Stavros Tavrou is one of Melbourne’s hair industry leaders. He’s led catwalk, photographic and platform work, and most recently directed the Royal Botanical Runway for Shu Uemera and events for VAMFF. Through 34 years, he’s mentored and educated the industry’s leading talents. He channels this energy into his salon, Rakis on Collins, which privileges intimate styling of the individual. For this, he’s been recognised with awards, lecture appearances, high-end session and editorial work. ‘The client doesn’t just walk out with beautiful hair,’ Stavros says. ‘They walk out having enjoyed the whole Rakis experience.’
After a 6 year stint in affluent Primrose Hill London, Danny directs and manages the team at Rakis on Collins. Over 19 years he’s been a L’Oreal ID Artist and part of its National Artistic and Education Team, worked on VAMFF shows, Hair Expo and Perth Fashion Festival with L’Oreal. He’s won awards, most recently the Shu Uemura Muse Image Awards 2016 and a finalist in the Australian FAME TEAM 2018, trained with Sassoon, TONI&GUY, AVEDA and L’Oreal. Danny brings to Rakis on Collins years of expertise in styling, colouring and make-up. His driving forces are photographic, catwalk and platform work and his work can most recently be found in Vogue, The Journal and InStyle magazine.
Previously a successful salon owner in Adelaide he moved to Melbourne for new challenges and a new journey. With over 15 years’ experience, Roland has many awards and achievements with his latest, 2014 AHFA Hairdresser of the year Finalist & 2016 Salon of the year Finalist. An experienced hair stylist and educator, training upcoming talents is another expertise to add to his impressive resume. Passionate in all aspects the hair industry has to offer. Roland prides himself on building a strong relationship with his clients to achieve ‘ultimate satisfaction’. He also recently did the hair for the Hermès At Work event in Melbourne.
The multi-talented Chris brings over 17 years of experience in hairdressing to the salon, as an editorial session stylist, educator, dual stylist but also in makeup and most recently photography. His work shows off his "eye to detail", his innovation in colour and precision in haircuts, all working together in execution to complement his clients’ overall sense of style and beauty. It’s no surprise then that Chris is often requested by the salon’s high profile celebrity clients and for collaboration for fashion editorial shoots and covers.
With over 15 years of experience, Stevie started his career with TONI&GUY as a colourist, moved to the UK where he progressed into the finals for TONI&GUY international colourist of the year. Back in Australia, Stevie joined Rokk Ebony as a Technical Director where he developed his passion for education. He then assumed the role of educator at head office for Redken, L’Oreal Professionel and Haircare Australia. Throughout his career, Stevie has co-ordinated backstage teams at fashion weeks, won awards within the industry and has mentored thousands of talented hairdressers around the world. His varied experience in hairdressing, especially in colour and education means his knowledge and expertise are unrivalled, in creating beautiful, stylish, customised colour in the salon. He also recently did the hair for the Hermès At Work event in Melbourne.
In his 9th year as a stylist, Pasquale's enthusiasm and passion for hair and the fashion industry are contagious. An invaluable part of our team, his skills cover all realms of hairdressing, cut, colour and styling. Originally from Adelaide, he has trained with some of our industry's greats and has always been a part of the L'Oreal network. He most recently was made an ID artist and a Shu Uemura Haigo Artist and was part of the Rakis on Collins team that did the hair for the Hermès At Work event in Melbourne.
Her colour, blow-dry and extension work skills are chameleon-like. She began work in London and moved in with Rakis on Collins in 2010. She’s worked at Melbourne Fashion Week, Myer Fashions on the Field and at the Giorgio Armani Show. She loves foiling and blow-drying and though relatively fresh to the hair industry, she hasn't let that stop her from becoming a Kevin Murphy session stylist and attaining a specialist colour degree from L’Oreal. ‘I love making colours that will suit every individual’.
The newest talent in the hair industry, Colleen knows the latest trends and emulates these, catering to each client’s own tastes. Whether it is a specialist style, blow-wave, hair-up or classic foils, Colleen’s keen eye and careful touch make each haircut personal, beautiful and enjoyable. One of the rising stars of the team, Alex has been mentored by Stavros into the incredible stylist she is today. Stunning blowdries, hair-ups and intricate braiding have developed her an almost cult following in the salon. She has worked backstage on shows for Fashion Week with the L’Oreal team. Her passion for technical services like Bhave Smoothing Service and Showpony Hair Extensions keeps her in demand. She also recently did the hair for the Hermès At Work event in Melbourne.
Hanae brings an incredible wealth of experience not only as a hairstylist but an accomplished makeup artist. Originally from Japan, Hanae spent 9 years living and working in London as a freelance makeup artist. She moved to Melbourne to focus on her hairstyling, which most recently won her Headmasters Student of the Year. She brings such a beautiful bubbly energy to the salon, and a lovely Japanese twist to the Rakis experience. She recently did the hair for the Hermès At Work event in Melbourne.
Rolf comes from a long line of family hairdressing talent, being a 5th generation hairdresser. Growing up in South Africa, he relocated to Melbourne 2 years ago to continue his hairdressing career. He has been fortunate enough to work with some industry icons Tracey Hughes and Lorna Evans, and has now been taken under the wing of Stavros. Very talented with cutting and styling, his passion for his craft will take him very far in his career.
Having won HBIA blonde bombshell and overall colourist award for 2016, and recently won L'Oreal Colour Trophy Australia 2018 - Rising Star Category, Cordell loves perfecting classic highlighting as well as seamless, lived in balayage. Known for always keeping up with the latest fashion trends, Cordell’s passion for the hair and fashion industry will leave you invigorated and excited about your hair. She’s also a killer at perfect tumbling waves.
