With so many events filling up our calendars throughout these gorgeous months, Spring Carnival stands out of course, and what better way to celebrate than with a fresh cut, colour and style to complement your overall look.
Go All The Way With Alex On Derby Day
Derby Day is traditionally black and white and while we love the luxe simplicity to this spectacular day, we prefer to live in colour… Well at least our personalities do! When it comes to hair? We’re always ready to stand out in a crowd and what better way to do so than with length and body!
One of our top tips for Spring Carnival, especially if you’re looking for some va va voom, is to get a little help from your friends…at Rakis, in particular Alex, who loves using Show Pony hair extensions, the best kind that money can buy. She uses Remy hair extensions which are superior because they’re designed to be knot and tangle free, and the hair is smoother and more aligned to the natural hair.
Hair extensions suit all hair styles, they catch easily onto natural hair, they add more volume to buns and ponytails and can last up till your next wash.
“A huge current trend is pony tails, they’re really IN at the moment. I love using hair extensions, to get the fullness, length and longevity in the style. The style stays intact longer, is more manageable and once they’re in, clients don’t really have to worry about them dropping out.
I’m obsessed with them at the moment! If you’re wanting a dramatic ponytail, I recommend coming in for a consultation prior to the event or occasion and we will have a blast working out the best options, colour etc.” - ALEX
Put That Seasonal Spring Into Your Step With Stevie
Not to be outdone, our ever-talented Colour Director Stevie shares a few Spring Racing looks to recommend from his 15 years experience in the hair industry and is thrilled to share what’s HOT and what’s NOT for this year’s 2017 Spring Carnival.
“This year I predict the Spring Racing carnival to be dominated by soft warm balayage, creamy clean blondes, and muted pastel hair colours. Bold bright colour choices will make way for lived in water colours, and solid platinum blondes will be replaced by classic blonde highlights. As a colourist, I believe this is a step in the right direction, as clients want longer time in between salon visits, and by designing a colour this way, this allows the colour to look salon fresh visit to visit, ensuring the client always looks fabulous.” He said.
For the races and beyond, Stevie’s philosophy has always been to work with what the client already has, to enhance the client’s best features, keeping it true, authentic to their innate personality, and not feeling compelled to colour every strand of hair.
“I developed this approach, given the busy schedules of modern life, and people’s lifestyles today, this is an approach and solution to hair colour that works, is practical but most importantly, still effortlessly beautiful and stylish” - STEVIE
Stevie also recommends L’Oréal’s Smart Bond Take Home #3 as a conditioner for any hair or colour type to maintain strength and condition and to help increase the longevity of the colour. This can be alternated with any nourishing treatment to improve moisture levels as well as strength.
