Creating Rakis in 1983, Stavros has established himself as one of Melbourne’s industry leaders, having mentored and educated many of the hairdressing industry’s leading talents. Despite a swag of awards and lecture appearances, along with a who’s-who of high-end session and editorial work, Stavros has created a salon that still favours the intimate styling of the individual. “The client doesn’t just walk out with beautiful hair,” he says. “They walk out having enjoyed the whole Rakis experience.”
JAMES
- Creative Director
Before joining Rakis in the early 80's, James completed his training at the highly regarded Vidal Sasoon Institute in London, as well New York’s Bumble & Bumble. He’s since worked on shows for collections such as Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent and John Paul Gaultier, along with a stint as a judge on Australia’s ‘Search for a Supermodel’. “I like to reinvent people,” he says. “I believe there’s beauty in all, and it’s my role to heighten it.”
SHERIDAN

Joining the Rakis Team in 2010, Sherdian's love of art and design led her to a career in hairdressing, and a career in hairdressing led her to Rakis. Literally raised by a family of stylists, her passion for the industry is matched only by her meticulous care with a client. |
PETER
- Senior Stylist & Colour Artist
Surrounded by sisters, Peter's been styling hair since he was old enough to hold a hairdryer. A chance meeting with NY stylist Julian Farell cemented his career, and his excpetional colour and style work led him to Rakis.
CANDICE
- Senior Colour Artist & Stylist
Candice joined Rakis on Collins in 2008. Despite several competition wins for men's hair, she admits a bias towards redefining women with natural-looking colour, putting a great deal of effort into creating an effortless-looking style.
MARIA
- Senior Colour Artist
Winner of the inaugural Kerastase ‘Portrait of Beauty’ competition, Maria joined Rakis in 2006 with a resume that included being a finalist as ‘Apprentice of the Year’ and consecutive wins in the HIS Bridal Competition. Her competition and session work has been showcased in ‘Estatica’ and ‘Euro Hair Style’ magazines, and her colour work and hair-ups have earned her pride of place with the Rakis Team.
KARLOSE
- Senior Colour Artist & Stylist
After several international jaunts (including Europe, the US and Hong Kong), Karlose has finally returned to Rakis on Collins. And after attending NY Fashion Week, he's bringing a whole new style and sensibility to the salon. His goal? To produce the best blondes in the business.

TROY - Stavros's PA
A one-time high school teacher and newspaper editor, Troy joined the Rakis family in 2007. Behind the scenes in the back office, Troy soon took responsibility for everything from the website to the plumbing. The key to working at Rakis? "Keep Stavros fed every couple hours," he says.
JESSI
- Salon Coordinator
Though she was born and raised in Wangaratta, Jessi claims her style and personality is Melbourne-made. Joining Rakis in 2009 in the demanding role of keeping the staff in line (formally known as 'Salon Coordinator'), Jessi's is a welcome addition to the Rakis family.

Joining the team in 2008, all four are thrilled to be embarking upon their career with Rakis. Renowned as an educational salon, and having given birth to many of the industries leading talents, they're keen to roll up and their sleeves and contribute to your Rakis experience.
